These Terms of Service govern your use of komododragonboat.com and any Komodo dragon boat tour you book through us. Ora Expeditions is a booking and concierge brand; all tours are fulfilled by the licensed operator Komodo Luxury. By requesting a quote, paying a deposit, or joining a trip, you accept these terms. Last updated 4 July 2026.
Who you are contracting with
Ora Expeditions is the trading name of a Komodo National Park tour booking service published by Juara Holding Group. We market, plan, and coordinate wildlife-first boat tours around Komodo and Rinca islands. We are the point of contact for enquiries and bookings, reached by WhatsApp at +62 811-3823-875 or by email at sales@komodoluxury.com.
The tours themselves — the vessels, crews, guides, and on-water logistics — are operated by Komodo Luxury, an award-winning tour operator founded in 2015 and based in Labuan Bajo, with an office at Jl. Soekarno Hatta, Labuan Bajo, Kec. Komodo, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur 86763. When you book, your service contract for the trip is with Komodo Luxury as the fulfilling operator. Ora Expeditions acts as the booking and information channel and coordinates your reservation with the operator’s reservations team.
How is a booking confirmed?
A booking is confirmed only when you have received a written confirmation from us (by WhatsApp or email) that references your trip date, boat or tour type, guest count, and total price, and when the required deposit has been received. A quote, an availability check, or a held date is not a confirmed booking until both of those conditions are met.
Because Komodo National Park entries are date-locked and, as one operator reports, tied to passport registration — with the park now limited to around 1,000 visitors per day across the entire park as of 2026 — you must supply accurate passport details for every guest at the time of booking. We cannot confirm park entry without them, and errors in the names or numbers you provide may delay or block entry. Please book early; date-locked permits sell out.
Deposit and balance
| Item | Standard terms (as of 2026) |
|---|---|
| Deposit to confirm | A non-refundable deposit, quoted per trip at the time of booking, is required to secure your date and permits. |
| Balance due | The remaining balance is due before departure, on the schedule stated in your written confirmation. |
| Currency | Prices are quoted in USD and/or IDR. Bank fees, card fees, or exchange-rate differences on your side are your responsibility. |
| Park and ranger fees | National park entrance fees and ranger fees are usually excluded and paid on-island, unless your confirmation states otherwise. |
Prices for tours vary widely by format. For context, and quoted from third parties as of 2026: GetYourGuide lists a shared 2D1N Komodo and Pink Beach boat tour from USD 179, multi-day liveaboards average roughly USD 100 per day including meals and island hopping, and a private 2D1N charter in Labuan Bajo has been quoted at 2.5 to 3 million IDR (about USD 210 to 250) excluding park fees and snorkel gear. Your actual price is the figure written in your own booking confirmation, not these reference ranges.
What do the park and ranger fees cover, and who pays them?
Unless your written confirmation explicitly states that park costs are included, the national park entrance fee and the mandatory ranger fee are excluded from your tour price and are payable by you on-island at Rinca (Loh Buaya) or Komodo. Ranger accompaniment is required by park rules for any dragon viewing on both islands — you walk behind the stick-carrying ranger at all times. These fees are set and collected by the park authority, not by us or the operator, and they can change without notice.
Snorkel gear may also be excluded on some formats and rentable locally at about USD 3 per day, again as of 2026. Your confirmation lists exactly what is included and excluded for your trip; read it before you pay the balance.
Cancellation and date changes
Cancellation and date-change terms depend on how far ahead of departure you notify us and on the operator’s policy for your specific boat or tour, because park permits are date-locked to your booking.
- By you. To cancel or request a new date, contact us in writing by WhatsApp or email as early as possible. The deposit is non-refundable. Any further refund of the balance, and whether a date change is possible, follows the operator’s cancellation schedule for your trip, which we will state in your confirmation. Because permits are passport-linked and date-locked, late changes may not be possible at all.
- Date changes. A date change is a request, not a guarantee. It depends on operator availability and on whether the park will re-issue a permit for your new date. Any fare difference or re-permitting cost is payable by you.
- By the operator. Komodo Luxury may cancel or reschedule a departure for reasons including unsafe weather, sea conditions, mechanical issues, government or park closures, or insufficient guest numbers. In that case you will be offered a new date where possible, or a refund of recoverable amounts. Third-party costs already paid to the park or other suppliers may not be recoverable.
No guaranteed sightings or outcomes
Komodo dragons are wild animals. Ora Expeditions and Komodo Luxury plan itineraries backwards from the best odds of a sighting — Rinca offers the most reliable sightings and sits about 2 hours from Labuan Bajo, versus roughly 4 hours to Komodo Island — but no sighting is ever guaranteed. Detailed guides estimate roughly 1,700 dragons on Komodo and about 1,300 on Rinca as of 2026; even so, encounters depend on the animals, the season, the time of day, and the ranger’s judgment on the day.
You accept that not seeing a dragon, or seeing fewer than you hoped, is not a service failure and is not grounds for a refund. The same applies to weather, sea state, wildlife such as the Kalong sunset flying foxes or manta rays at Manta Point, and other natural conditions outside anyone’s control.
Safety, conduct, and your responsibilities
Komodo dragons reach up to 3 meters, can run up to 20 km/h, swim, climb, and carry venom in the lower jaw whose bite is described as lethal to humans. For your safety and the animals’, you agree to follow every ranger instruction and park rule without exception: keep the minimum distance, never feed or bait a dragon, stay quiet, walk behind the stick-carrying ranger, and make no running or sudden movements. You also agree to:
- Provide accurate passport and health information for every guest.
- Assess your own fitness for boat travel and ranger treks, and disclose relevant medical conditions.
- Arrange your own travel insurance, including medical and evacuation cover, which we strongly recommend.
- Follow all crew safety briefings and Indonesian law throughout the trip.
The operator or ranger may refuse participation, or remove a guest from an activity, where safety or rules require it, without refund.
Liability limits
To the fullest extent permitted by Indonesian law, Ora Expeditions and Juara Holding Group act as a booking and concierge channel and are not liable for personal injury, illness, loss, or damage arising during a tour operated by Komodo Luxury or by third-party suppliers such as the park authority, rangers, transport providers, or accommodation. Any operational liability rests with the fulfilling operator under its own terms and Indonesian regulations. We are not a licensed financial, legal, medical, or insurance adviser, and nothing on this site is such advice. Reference prices, populations, distances, and rules on this site are stated as of 2026 and are subject to change.
Your data and privacy
We collect only the personal data needed to arrange and fulfil your booking — names, passport details for park registration, contact information, and payment references. We process it in line with Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022, UU PDP). For visitors in the European Union and other regions, we aim to handle your data consistently with GDPR principles of lawful basis, data minimisation, and your rights to access or deletion. We share passport data with Komodo Luxury and the park authority strictly to secure your date-locked permit. To ask about, correct, or delete your data, contact us at sales@komodoluxury.com.
